St. Jude Parish began as a mission in 2003, meeting at first in a funeral home, then in a storefront that once served as a gym.
By 2010, the parish was on the move again, celebrating Mass in a building that previously housed a motorsports shop. After much work, prayer and sacrifice, we dedicated our magnificent new church in 2018.
We invite and encourage you to register with the parish to take full advantage of everything St. Jude has to offer. Please return the registration form to the parish office.
Yes, this is a 21st century church; but there's a lot of Catholic tradition represented in this building, as well as some surprises.
Throughout the years, Catholic churches have communicated the gospel through the arts — sculpture, painting, music and the familiar "smells and bells" that all help bring our worship into focus.
The altar at St. Jude includes sculptures of Jesus and the apostles, and each figure has a story accompanying it. The reliquary on the back side of the altar is a unique feature — it contains relics of the twelve apostles.
St. Jude's amazing stained glass windows were designed and fabricated by the artists of Beyer Studio in Philadelphia.
As windows were finished, Beyer's team carefully transported them to Fredericksburg and installed them in the church. The full set was completed in the spring of 2022.
The windows depict events in the life of Christ and the early church. There's a lot going on in this beautiful stained glass!
Just as stained glass windows tell stories, so do the Stations of the Cross. The fourteen hand-painted originals at St. Jude were obtained from a church in Belgium that had closed.
These stations date from the 1870s, and became available while St. Jude's new church was in the planning stages. They're a perfect fit in terms of size, color and style.
The inscriptions remain in French — the language in Belgium where these stations originated. When St. Jude parishioners saw them, they didn't want to change a thing.
